Join PEG for a single webinar or a series of two webinars on technical formatting.
Webinar 1 covers: Why technical editing matters (Clarity, credibility, and saving reviewers’ sanity). Our presenter will facilitate an interactive fix-it session that includes a live practical editing exercise of short examples using editing toolkits.
In Webinar 2, a new exercise will be provided to consolidate on the lessons learnt.

Prerequisites/foundational knowledge: Basic understanding of academic editing but note, we will not be editing per se.
CPD hours: PEG members will earn CPD hours according to the criteria published on the PEG website. Attendees of the live presentation will receive a certificate confirming their attendance and the duration of the webinar. Those who are unable to attend the webinar live may submit their receipt as proof of having received the recording.
Pre-webinar materials:
- Exercise for Webinar 1: Chapter 1 of a thesis will be supplied for the practical exercise
- Exercise for Webinar 2: An academic article will be supplied together with a style guide for delegates to apply the guidance from Webinar 1
About the webinars
The following topics will be covered:
- Demystifying heading styles so your structure looks sharp (and not like a ransom note).
- Nailing paragraph formats for flow, readability, and consistency.
- Wrestling with referencing styles—APA, Harvard—without losing your sanity.
- Spotting the small but deadly errors: spacing, numbering, fonts, and alignment.
- Quick hacks, tools, and checklists to make technical editing faster (and maybe even fun).
About our facilitator
Jax Baumgardt has many years of experience in the editing of academic assignments, proposals, theses, dissertations and journal articles. She has taught herself the tricks of the trade to get to the most effective and efficient way to get to the final goal- a polished product that will satisfy the client without comebacks.
