About the webinars
Part One is a friendly, step-by-step introduction to PerfectIt. We’ll walk you through how to purchase it, use the PEG discount and add it to your desktop. Then, we’ll show you exactly what it can do and how easy it is to use. In an interactive session, you’ll learn how to use the default package and how to customise the basic checks according to your editing needs. This session is perfect for newbies and those still on the fence about whether to buy PerfectIt or not – even if you already use it, you might be surprised by the range of consistency checks it offers. Q&A time will be available, and both Windows and Mac users will be accommodated.
Part Two is aimed at editors who already use PerfectIt and want to take it a step further by creating customised style sheets for specific types of editing jobs. For example, if you edit extensively for a particular company or university, we’ll show you how to set PerfectIt up to catch their unique style preferences in addition to the usual consistency checks. You’ll learn how to build your own stylesheets with customised spelling and hyphenation rules and preferences for italics, subscripts, capitalisation, punctuation and more. Plenty of Q&A time will be available, and interactive components will be included to keep you all awake!
Unfortunately, PerfectIt Cloud, which is used by Mac users, does not yet offer stylesheet customisation, so Part Two is for Windows users only.
About our facilitators
Nikki Watkins has been an academic editor for over 17 years and is lucky enough to be self-employed. Aside from editing, she enjoys playing hide-and-seek over WhatsApp video calls with her grandchildren (don’t ask)!
Kate Davies has been editing full-time for just over four years. She lives in Boknesstrand and enjoys fishing and beach walks when she isn’t editing. She works on a Mac and therefore is clearly not afraid of anything!
