English grammar bugbears, borascos, bootlegs and other bothersomes unmasked
Join PEG for a series of three webinars that will cover the language questions of the PEG Accreditation Tests of 2022 to 2024 and the grammar guidelines that may arise from analysing them.

Prerequisites/foundational knowledge: No previous knowledge or experience is necessary.
CPD hours: PEG members will earn CPD hours according to the criteria published on the PEG website. Attendees of the live presentation will receive a certificate confirming their attendance and the duration of the webinar. Those who are unable to attend the webinar live may submit their receipt as proof of having received the recording.
Pre-webinar materials: Before each webinar, registrants will be sent Question 1 of the test being covered in that webinar to work through in preparation for that webinar. Each set will comprise 20 sentences that contain errors that should be detected and corrected and a set of 10 multiple-choice questions in which the only correct sentence of four must be identified.
About the webinar
The webinar content will be based on the language question (Question 1) in each of the Accreditation Tests of 2022, 2023 and 2024 and aspects of English grammar that arise from them – one year per webinar. Before each webinar, registrants will be sent Question 1 of a test to work through in preparation for that webinar. In addition, registrants are encouraged to email their burning grammar bugbears to John before each webinar (or before the series starts) at accredscheme@editors.org.za. He will then incorporate any bugbears or questions into his presentations.
During the webinars, the attendees will be encouraged to raise any related grammar questions.
About our facilitator
John Linnegar has been a passionate user and teacher of English for many years, and has published two books on the subject to help support writers and editors as they seek the reasons for correcting the errors they commit or detect. Learners and students who are mother-tongue speakers of the language and those for whom it is a second or a foreign language have benefited from his ‘plain English’ approach to English grammar.
