Is your work secure?

POPIA, your clients, and you

How editors protect data privacy

Wednesday, 30 April at 6 pm

An unmissable reminder of the importance of safeguarding our work.

POPIA is SAs version of GDPR and it’s here for good reason, so how do we avoid falling foul of the regulator?

Alexis Grewan, PEG’s information officer, will help us to clear up any grey areas about data privacy. We’ll talk about personal information, what needs protection and how editors can ensure they remain on the safe side of the information regulator.

This is about POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) and our work as editors. It’s about what we need to do to protect ourselves and our clients.

  • Alexis will kick us off with a brief background to POPIA
  • Then you tell us what you’re currently doing to protect data
  • And we find out from you where the gaps are and what we need to understand more clearly to ensure our compliance with this statutory regulation.

All PEG members are warmly welcome and there is no fee for this session.

CPD: attendees may allocate discretionary CPD hours (60 mins ÷ 5 = 12 mins). Host and co-host may include time in your formal hours (x2).
