2025 sees a new initiative called CREDIT to give it (credit) where it's due and use editing to make things better. You can read more about that on my website http://www.alexisgrewan.co.za.

As an editor, proofreader and writing consultant, I am ethical, vigilant, disciplined and reliable. I deliver work on time and produce documents that are clear, impartial and accurate. I adhere to high standards of practice and I remain informed of best practice in the field.

My commitment to professional practice and continued professional development is supported by membership of the Professional Editors’ Guild (PEG) and registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP). I uphold and adhere to professional codes of conduct related to both affiliations. I have been involved in PEG committees for several years and was national chairperson from 2021 to 2024.

I have worked as a freelance writing consultant, editor and proofreader for more than 10 years. I started in the medico-legal field but have extended my area of influence! My freelance work now includes editing of academic texts (for examination and for publication), copy-editing manuscripts of self-publishing authors and for traditional publishing houses, corporate copy-editing (annual reports specifically), editing educational materials and proofreading medico-legal reports. Prior to entering the world of wordsmiths, I ran a successful health-care practice as a reflexologist, delivered training in soft skills and worked as a community social worker.
