PEG Accreditation Test 2026: Parts 1, 2 and 3
Join PEG for a single webinar or a series of three webinars on the PEG Accreditation Test (AT) 2023 as preparation for sitting the 2026 test or simply as a means of honing your knowledge and skills and earning valuable CPD hours. The purpose of this webinar series is to demonstrate the way questions should be answered, what to do and what not to do, and to clarify how candidates can best prepare themselves for the next AT. Attending all three sessions will ensure that you cover all the questions in this test.
Three webinars cover the AT 2023 questions:

| Thursday, 4 June 2026 | 18:00–21:00 (CAT) | Part 2: Part 2 will focus on one proofreading question, one on structural, content, stylistic and copy editing, and a second general question. |
| Thursday, 25 June 2026 | 18:00–21:00 (CAT) | Part 3: Part 3 will focus on the second proofreading question, the third on structural, content, stylistic and copy editing, and a third general question. |
More details of the content will be available once we distribute the pre-reading for the webinars (ie the AT 2023 script) to those who register.

Platform: Online (Zoom)
Prerequisites/foundational knowledge: Intermediate or advanced if you intend taking AT26 or AT27. Beginner upwards if this is merely a learning or an exploratory experience for you.
CPD hours: The duration of each webinar in this series is three hours. PEG members will earn CPD hours according to the criteria published on the PEG website. Attendees of the live presentation will receive a certificate confirming their attendance and the duration of the webinar. Those who are unable to attend the webinar live may submit their receipt as proof of having received the recording.
Pre-webinar materials: The test script of AT2023 will be emailed to registrants well before the first webinar. (Or well before Parts 2 and 3 should you register for one of these webinars only.)
Recording and PowerPoint slides: Everyone who registers for a webinar will receive a recording of the event and copies of the PowerPoint slides (if applicable) afterwards.
About the webinar
The purpose of the webinars is to demonstrate how questions should be answered, what to do and what not to do, and to clarify how members can prepare themselves for the 2026 accreditation test. It will be useful for those who intend participating to work through these questions beforehand, providing answers where possible, in order to derive maximum benefit from the webinar. Those who sat the 2023 test should bring their completed tests to the webinar/workshop to enable them to discover where they could have performed better.
About our facilitators
John Linnegar has been a teacher and trainer, and a setter of more tests and examinations than he cares to remember, during a career spanning 40+ years. He has also acted as an external marker and moderator for examinations set by the Western Cape Department of Education and national examinations. Besides having been a copy-editor and proofreader for some time now, specialising in school and academic textbooks, non-fiction works and now journal articles, theses and dissertations, too, he has been a co-examiner of PEG’s first six Accreditation Tests and also one of the markers. The Accreditation Test falls four square within his PEG portfolio of Accreditation Coordinator. John has also published several texts on aspects of English and copy-editing and proofreading.
Sally Hofmeyr started out as an ornithologist and conservationist, but along the way she took up academic editing to help pay the bills and ultimately realised this was the career for her. For over 10 years, editing was her mainstay. From 2016 to 2025, Sally was a senior editor for Uni-edit, a small online academic editing company, and in that role she edited, provided training and feedback to editors and translators, and participated in other aspects of running the business. In 2025 she returned to her academic roots at the University of Cape Town, but she continues to edit occasionally and to be interested and involved in PEG and in helping editors to hone their skills. Sally has been a member of PEG since 2017. She qualified as an Accredited Text Editor (English) in 2020 and was a member of the Accreditation Test examiner team for three years, from 2021 to 2023.
