The purpose of this webinar is help attendees to distinguish between these three types of editorial intervention with a view to providing a systematic and thorough editorial intervention.
If words are the building blocks of sentences, then punctuation marks can be viewed as the cement holding them together (aided and abetted by connectors) and supporting the words in conveying the author’s intended meaning. We’ll be focusing on a range of the punctuation errors that authors typically commit either with or without the comma and how to rectify them.
With many English-speakers not having been taught grammar formally at school or university for almost 40 year and many authors now having to write in English as their second or a foreign language, much needs to be done not only to improve their words but also save their reputations. During this webinar, we’ll be focusing on a range of grammar and punctuation errors that authors typically commit (although the coverage can never be exhaustive, of course!).
The Guild’s 2023 Accreditation Test will be made available to those members who are eligible to take it during the seven-day window period that will commence on 9 September 2023.
