Training and Events

Launched to fill the lacunae in branch event programmes created by COVID-19 in 2020, the national webinar programme strives to provide a wide range of online CPD opportunities for PEG members and others, including prospective members. At least two webinars on different topics are offered most months.

The programme offers a diverse range of editing-related topics:

  • editing
  • proofreading
  • language usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc
  • house style (consistency)
  • technical matters (eg using MS Word, MS Excel and Adobe Acrobat more effectively)
  • aspects of managing a freelance business
  • extending skills into related areas, and
  • marketing one’s services.

Preferably, this is a service that is offered by members for members; and members often find presenting these webinars on areas of their expertise to be opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Webinars – Urgent Notice: New bank reference formatWith immediate effect, when paying for a webinar, your bank reference must read "WEBday.month.surname". For example, WEB24.8.Jansevanrensburg. or WEB24.8.FischerM if there is enough space to add your initials. Also, many of you are providing only your name with no webinar reference at all, which is really unhelpful when several webinars are being processed simultaneously!

For example: If Jo Smith is a PEG member and she registers by 22 August 2021 and makes a payment of R200 into PEG’s account, her reference will be WEB24.8.SmithJ.

Remember: All payments must be made into PEG’s national account. PEG’s banking details are:

Bank: Absa
Account name: Professional Editors’ Guild
Account type: Savings account
Account number: 9045286642
Branch code: 632005 (Hyde Park)

Note: Registrations will be confirmed by email once proof of payment has been received by Sharon Rose. Please contact Sharon if you do not receive confirmation from her.
