About the editor

About me

Work experience

As an experienced English language practitioner, I have the expertise to write tightly woven words or to transform work into a polished and focused product. My academic qualifications in English language teaching and an MA in General Linguistics have equipped me to be involved in the teaching, writing and editing of English. My strengths lie in grammatical expertise and being able to structure a piece of writing so that it is clear, uncluttered and error-free. I have also been involved as a contributing author to several English language textbooks, one of which is The Oxford English Grammar: Advanced Guide (2015).

Over the past 30 years, I have worked for newspapers, schools, tertiary institutions, NGOs and currently work as a freelance writer, trainer and editor. Through a business I started (www.englishatonce.com) I currently produce English language worksheets on a weekly basis for subscribing schools. In the last three years, I have also designed and facilitated short courses for professional development through the Stellenbosch Unversity Language Centre on Writing for the Media and Business Report Writing. Having qualified as a full member of the Professional Editors’ Guild (PEG) in South Africa, I have completed a number of academic editing jobs for leading universities and publishers.
