SUMMARY:Google Forms Part I
DESCRIPTION:Google Forms\nCollecting information via return email is so 2007! Harness the power of Google Forms to gather the information you need – quickly\, easily and reliably. \nThis is a two-part webinar series. \nDates: Tuesday\, 5 May 2026 \nThursday\, 18 June 2026 \nTime: 18:00–20:00 (Central African Time: GMT +02:00) \nPresenter: Kevin Walker \nPlatform: Online (Zoom meeting) \nLevel: Beginner to Intermediate \nPrerequisites/foundational knowledge: If you would like to put into practice what you learn on this\nwebinar\, you will need a free Google Account. \nCPD hours: PEG members will earn CPD hours according to the criteria published on the PEG website. Attendees of the live presentation will receive a certificate confirming their attendance and the duration of the webinar. Those who are unable to attend the webinar live may submit their receipt as proof of having received the recording. \nPre-webinar materials: None \nAbout the webinar\nGoogle Forms is an online survey platform that anyone can use! Launched in 2008 as part of the Google Docs suite\, it allows collaboration and integrates with Google Sheets and Drive\, making it an attractive choice over similar survey platforms and therefore a widely used tool for event RSVPs\, intake and enquiry forms – and even games such as digital escape rooms! \nIn this webinar\, you will learn the basics of Google Forms and how to start constructing your own form. We’ll cover the types of information you can collect and which field type (such as type-in textboxes\, dropdowns and checkboxes) are best suited to the task and best practices for using and processing that data. You’ll learn to format\, preview and publish your form and then view the replies once your respondents start filling it in. \nOnce you’ve grasped the basics and had a little time to practise\, in the second session we’ll cover some of the more advanced options in Google Forms. Learn how to guide respondents with branching sections based on their input\, minimise input errors using validation and collaborate with others on designing a form. You’ll learn about progress indicators for long forms and ways to confirm to your user that their response has been recorded. \nAbout our facilitator\nKevin Walker was born just late enough to qualify as a digital native. His tech learning journey has been largely guided by curiosity and the belief that ‘there must be a (better) way to do that’\, lots of Googling\, and the subsequent joy in finding solutions to and workarounds for tricky issues. \nBefore becoming a full-time freelancer in 2023\, he worked at a school\, where he handled a boat-load of data related to his communications\, events and administration duties. It was during this time that he developed his love of well-organised data and honed his skills in managing and collecting information through digital platforms. \nKevin is an Accredited Text Editor (English) and currently the national chairperson of the Professional Editors’ Guild. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others and helping them to resolve their own prickly problems. \nCost\n\n\n\nAffiliation\nEarly-bird registration fee1\nRegistration fee2\nEarly-bird registration fee (two webinars)3\n\n\n\n\nPEG members\nR295\nR380\nR500\n\n\nMembers of affiliated organisations4\nR400\nR500\n–\n\n\nNon-affiliated members\nR500\nR600\n–\n\n\n\n1Early-bird registration fee: Before or on Monday\, 27 April 2026 for Webinar 1.
